-------------------------------------------------- 1. Whats Cooking in 2006? --------------------------------------------------
Firstly, a big, big thank you to all volunteers who have, over the past 5 years, supported our programs in Brazil. Thought we would let you know that we have some exciting new programs planned for 2006.
Check this out!
NEW Conservation Project
Due to need we are expanding our Street Children Project
NEW Family Volunteer and Travel Programs
NEW Volunteer Projects for Group volunteering
The opening of NEW offices in The UK , USA and Ireland
Potential volunteers very often ask us for the typical volunteer profile, but the fact is there isnt one. Some people ask this because they are unsure if volunteering is for them, notwithstanding they wouldnt want to feel out of place on a volunteer travel program.
To date our youngest solo volunteer has been 16 years old (with parental consent) and our oldest was 79 years old, a spright old chap (I am sure that Henry wont mind me calling him spright) from Boston, USA.
Although most of our volunteers are 20 something, there is a significant increase in the 40 and 50 age ranges. Notwithstanding group volunteering is on the up (corporate and clubs, youth groups etc).
Family volunteering has also seen an up-turn, whereby family groups of 4 and 5 have enjoyed a cultural experience together, the kind of which money just cant buy.
We shouldnt read too much into the geographical origin of our volunteers, as marketing obviously plays a big part here! Anyway, for interest, here is the geographical breakdown:
USA = 40%, UK = 37%, Ireland = 5%, Canada = 4%, Australia = 4% Other Europe = 9%, other = 1%
One striking statistic is the fact that 83% of all volunteers are female, Very well done girls!!!
I do hope that you found this interesting, and maybe a little boring too...But rememeber, whatever your age, whatever your circumstances , and wherever your passion lie, you will not be out of place on a volunteerbrazil volunteer travel program in Brazil...
