Tourism & Development Volunteering in Brazil (Apply for a place)

If you are looking to branch out into marketing, media or PR, or perhaps already have some experience in this field, the tourism and development authority of Porto de Galinhas, Recife and Olinda has a challenge for you and could really use your help. 

The average temperature of the water in Porto de Galinhas beaches is 28  Celsius. And from Pontal de Maraca pe to Camboa there are 60 km of coconut tree and sugar cane plantations in what remains of the Atlantic Forest. There are many buildings and structures of great historical interest in the region essentially built by the Dutch and Portuguese.

Local artists transform the roots and trunks of native trees in an amazing art representing the culture of the region. Sea food is rich and delicious as well as an abundance of typical tropical fruit juices. Pernambuco state is also famous for its fantastic deserts, a consequence of the sugar cane culture.

 

What kind of skills do I need?

Your tasks are varied and you may concentrate on an area which particularly interests you the general help the project requires are in the following areas;Producing marketing materials in English - Teach English to key local staff -Help with website and other translation - PR activities - Development work. 

You will get involved with local events and festivals to promote  tourism in the area. You will also be training  natives involved in tourism helping to to improve their English language skills. Your  tools will be the Internet,  and international press. You could also join the local team involved with publicity and advertising and helping with the design and production of materials such as leaflets, brochures, maps, campaigns, etc.

The project needs your help to develop tourism, of which there are many opportunities.For instance the sugar cane engenhos of the region, the most beautiful beaches you could ever imagine, the diversity of the environment all contribute to the potential of the region. 

Accommodation

You may select to stay in a small hotel, or in a homestay with a Brazilian family (hotel is subject to availability, and may incur an additional cost).Your location will be either Recife, Olinda or Porto de Galinhas, if you have a preference, please tell us.

You may volunteer for up to 12 weeks, each additional week is as follows:

US = $150 per additional week

UK = £85 per additional week

Canada = $160 per additional week

Euro = €105 per additional week
