Volunteer Brazil

  Conservation in Brazil (Apply Here)

This is a very exciting and diverse Conservation project

You will be rotating between Mangrove, Atlantic Forest and Coastal Conservation, including the protection of sea horses and turtles (for 150 million years 5 species of turtle have found refuge in the warm waters of Porto de Galinhas) not forgetting the fish and crabs.

Why the placement needs you!

Many of the species are endangered, the local community and fishermen associations need all the help they can get! You will help with preserving and protecting this delightful, extremely important coastline and all of the natural, environmental treasures which it holds.

Your Role as a Volunteer

Your role is varied and extremely interesting, you will be preserving wildlife and plants, and maintaining trails in the Atlantic Forest.

Protecting the coastline, preparing turtle hatcheries, conducting beach patrols, protecting the sea horse environment - and may even witness the honeymoon dance, which results in the male sea horse becoming pregnant.

You will be helping to prepare material (in English) which will help tourists and visitors understand their millieu, and the importance of conservation.

You will be helping with educational programs and the preservation of the sugar and coconut plantations, farms and forest.

Accommodation

You may select to stay in a small hotel, or in a homestay with a Brazilian family (hotel is subject to availability, and may incur an additional cost).Your location will be either Porto de Galiinhas or Recife, if you have a preference, please tell us.

*Homestay includes breakfast and dinner - hotel maybe breakfast only!
