Music Education Program
Are you musically minded? Do you have rhythm and beat running through your veins, do you want to swap the serenade for samba?
Our Music Education Project is based in Olinda. If you love music, this education project is a fantastic opportunity. You may or may not already play an instrument, but you will have an appetite for getting involved in teaching and learning music. The music education here is wide-ranging, and as well doing your bit, you may leave the placement knowing how to play a beat or two on Brazilian drums, be an accomplished side-stepping samba slitherer or be able to brag a little about the bossa nova.
The students will almost certainly want you to teach them a little English too, this can be either informal or formal, and it’s really up to you.
If you have some knowledge of classical music, are a pianist, violinist or guitarist you can help with workshops and perhaps give some one-to-one tuition too. Singers are most welcome, particularly choral. There are also opportunities to get involved in extra-curricular activities, with specialist groups; you may even be invited to join them in performance at a festival or even carnival..
Accommodation
You may select to stay in a small hotel, or in a homestay with a Brazilian family (hotel is subject to availability, and may incur an additional cost).Your location will be either Recife or Olinda, if you have a preference, please tell us.
