Porto de Galinhas - The most beautiful beach...

Porto de Galinhas was voted the 2nd most beautiful beach in the whole of Brazil!
There are many magnificent structures and buildings from the colonial days of the Portuguese and Dutch invasions, the legacy is visible with 60km of sugar and coconut plantations running from coast to coast in the region.
The diverse environment of Porto de Galinhas ensures a true paradise.
About an hour and a half south of Recife, the town has many, many delights in store for the visitor.
The beauty of the beach is magnified by the natural treasure of coral reef pools, some of which are 8 metres deep, in essence they are natural aquariums where you can bathe with fish , prawns and lobsters in water at 28 ° Celsius.
Porto de Galinhas is a serious luxury destination providing its visitors with a range of good hotels and fine restaurants.
Situated in a most beautiful part of Pernambuco which in many respects emphasizes the contradictions which are evident in many parts of Brazil. Just a kilometre or two out of town you will witness abject poverty, and booking a volunteer program gives you a rare opportunity to experience the luxury and delights of a coastal paradise while helping the very poorest Brazilians with your project work.
Porto de Galinhas is a must visit if you are volunteering in either Recife or Olinda - in fact most volunteers go there at least once - and usually for the weekend to boot.
Access is is easy via public transport - and there is a wide-ranging choice of hotels to suit all budgets.
As a town area, Porto de Galinhas is quite a small cosy and exquisite location - it is famed for it's local beaches - however, the food and accommodation, not to mention the shops, are of a very high standard and very, very clean - if you fancy partying (as Brazilians do) there is even a nightclub in town; The Chicken Club - it's set in two environments, both indoors and out - well worth a visit!
