In fact , we need you if you have, almost, any sporting or leisure interest, with a desire to share your skill and enthusiasm with others.
Why the sports placement needs you!
The project receives some funding from the Federal Government and although the project has some full time staff, they rely heavily on volunteer support.
Volunteers are needed to develop better sports programs and to allow children to discover where their talents lie. There are also opportunities to combine sports and soccer coaching with English teaching , so if you are multi-talented you are most welcome. One final note - The program also encompasses street children, who are invlolved in sporting and skills training activities. The activities take place in a self contained largely outdoor centre (with built accommodation) in a most beautiful setting, north of Recife, in Itamaraca.
What kind of skills do I need?
Volunteers at this project should be open minded, flexible, creative, resourceful and able to use their own initiative. You should also have a genuine love of sport and enjoy working with children of all ages. Experience and qualifications in sports coaching are very useful but not essential. It is useful to bring along any sports equipment for use at the projects. You will be assisting on a community sport and leisure project which aims to encourage sporting activities within the local communities, from football | soccer and aerobics to arts and crafts classes such as painting and drawing. The project also gets the community involved in cultural activities.
Most of the activities and sports coaching takes place within the community and inter community football matches and skateboarding, competitions, etc, are actively encouraged. The communities that you will be working with are extremely poor and unemployment in these areas is high.
Your Role as a Volunteer
You will be an assistant on this project and help plan, prepare and deliver sports, games and activities within the community, as well as encouraging and motivating those who attend. You can act as a referee or help coach the people in their chosen activity. You can also help organize tournaments and competitions and help draw up training schedules.

Facilities are not in abundance here. Any resources you could bring from home to support the center’s activities would be very much appreciated.
