Teaching English Program

You will be working as an assistant English teacher in Brazilian State Schools - your location will either be in Recife or Olinda.  Your project objective is two-fold, to teach English language to the children who are between the ages of 7 and 17 - and to also help improve the native Brazilian teacher’s language skills.

    

   

Our Teaching English Project is one of our more competitive placements, so an early booking is advised; as soon as we receive your application we will confirm that we have reserved your place in one of our state schools. This is a rare opportunity to teach English at grass roots level, as most other organisations only offer these placements in private schools.  

      

What Kind Of Skills Do I Need?

Experience of working with children is certainly an asset but not essential. However, a love for children, plenty of patience and understanding, enthusiasm and a desire to improve your children’s prospects by learning English is perhaps more important.

 You will be a native or near native speaker of English language. Although you do not need formal teaching qualifications or formal teacher training. You do however need a good grasp of the English language and plenty of enthusiasm and confidence. 

You will be teaching in a classroom environment, which may involve formal teaching, conversation class, singing songs and playing games. You will also involve the native Brazilian teacher in these activities which will help in improving their language skills.

Accommodation

You may select to stay in a small hotel, or in a homestay with a Brazilian family (hotel is subject to availability, and may incur an additional cost).Your location will be either Recife or Olinda, if you have a preference, please tell us.

    You may volunteer for up to 12 weeks, each additional week is as follows:

    US = $150 per additional week

    UK =  £85 per additional week

    Canada = $160 per additional week

    Euro =  €105 per additional week
