Volunteering abroad has become a reality for many, many people.
In times gone-by however, volunteering abroad was the dominion of the idle rich - please note here, I am not suggesting that volunteering per-se was the dominion of the idle rich, because that has never been the case, it is safe to say though that it was only the ¨well-off¨ who could afford the expense involved, not least volunteer abroad opportunities were much scarcer than they are today.
Volunteering abroad is much more accessible and desirable than it was in the past - Here are some of the reasons why this is so:
- International Travel is cheaper - the airline industry is one of the most competitive markets in the travel sector, this affords the opportunity to grab a bargain fare (a little tip - Wednesday's are usually the best days to purchase a ticket, the worst days are weekends).
- More access for more people to Higher Education Programs and Courses - More young people are enrolling on University and College programs than ever before. In addition to better access and more opportunity for adult learners who wish to return to part or full time education.
- There is plenty of choice with the growth of Volunteer Organisations - There are now scores of volunteer organisations offering volunteer abroad opportunities, moreover, you can volunteer in almost every country on the planet - and in many areas ranging from working with street kids in Kenya to saving the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil.
- Volunteering Abroad Experience is viewed as a positive personal attribute - Volunteering is a two-way-street, and many individuals as well as employers recognize the value in volunteering in far-flung places and the positive aspects it can bring to a workplace and community.
- Better Communication and More Information - Both the internet and the World's Media have , in a sense; ¨shrunk the world¨ , it is a much smaller place than it was percieved to be. And with more information easily accessible and appealing to a wider public audience, voluntourism is certainly a growing and desirable marketplace.
Following on from above, we recognize that when choosing to volunteer abroad, some of you prefer the security of an established organized program, whilst others will prefer to volunteer abroad as an independent volunteer - We are delighted to be able to provide either option for you.
If you prefer the security of us providing you with not only a volunteer abroad program, but also your accommodation and food you will need to choose the all-inclusive volunteer abroad program. If however you prefer to embark upon an organized volunteer program and want to arrange your own accommodation and food, please choose the independent volunteering option.
